Release of Matthew Quek’s eighth solo album “Embrace”-”拥 抱“
Introducing….my eighth solo album, “Embrace-”拥 抱“
This is my FIRST MANDARIN solo album ever, and it is truly a monumental labour of love!
2014 proved to be, by God’s grace, a very creatively productive year. Aside from composing my seventh solo album “Soul Companion”, which consists of ELEVEN original compositions, which I was inspired to compose during the first half of the year. Then, after an album launch for “Soul Companion” at the Hood Bar @ Bugis Plus, I was enabled to compose most of the Mandarin songs for “EMBRACE- 拥 抱“
Most of my songs are windows to my soul, narrating my experiences struggling and wrestling with my handicaps, stigmatisation and rejection.
Much of the trauma I went through in life was due to my learning handicaps, which were only diagnosed much later in life when much emotional, mental and spiritual scars had been inflicted. But through these, I learned a lot about human nature and the need for a Saviour in my life.
This newest album “EMBRACE- 拥 抱“, was composed and produced to generate awareness and support for those who are afflicted with learning difficulties and do not have adequate resources to get ahead in life. Hence, 30% of the album sales would be going to the Dyslexia Association of Singapore (DAS).
Would greatly appreciate your support for these albums and hoping that these songs will speak to you all, especially when you are feeling downcast, rejected and stigmatised.
Our true worth is not based on what we achieve per se, but rather, is based primarily on what kind of person we are and what is in our hearts.
